It can’t be easy living your dreams. What’s the ultimate fantasy of every little girl? That’s right – to be a princess. But while millions of girls watch Disney movies and end up growing out of it, occasionally it pans out. Just like it did for The Duchess of Cornwall, Kate Middleton. When she married Prince William, she become royalty. But whereas it can be seen as a blessing, becoming the granddaughter-in-law of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II must be an intimidating prospect. Especially with her being a pretty demanding woman. She’s a difficult woman to please. As Kate has found out. Here are fifteen things that The Queen’s not entirely happy about with her grandson’s wife…

The Queen has been doing the whole ‘royal ‘ thing for many, many years. With all of this experience, it’s only natural that she has some sage advice to offer to brand new additions to the royal family, like Kate. One such piece of advice is the old skirt weight trick. The Queen always makes sure she has weights sewn into the hems of all of her dresses so that they don’t blow up in the wind. No one’s seen the Queens knickers, and she isn’t particularly happy that Kate refuses to follow her advice.

Although we were all very impressed with Kate’s choice of wedding dress, it’s reported that the Queen has quite the opposite view. When Kate’s dress, designed by famous British designer Sarah Burton, went on display in Buckingham Palace in 2011, the Queen was overheard muttering, ‘”I’m not keen on this. I don’t approve of this.” We don’t exactly know why the Queen hates the dress so much, but we’re inclined to disagree!

As Kate went to a traditional British University, it’s only fair to say she had a pretty traditional University life. This generally means spending quite a lot of time under the influence and getting up to some dubious activities. At the time, Kate had no idea that she would one day be a Princess, so going to roller discos in tiny hot pants did not seem inappropriate. When the photo’s came out years later, it’s safe to say the Queen was not amused.

For us mere mortals, Kate’s luscious locks are a cause of great envy. It doesn’t matter what the situation or the weather, her amazing blow dry manages to stay perfect. For the Queen, however, Kate’s hair is not tamed enough. Queen Liz apparently ‘recommended’ that Kate chop off four inches to keep it looking manageable. It’s amazing that the level of control the Queen has over her family extends even to their hair…

Being a member of the royal families has got to have it’s perks, right? Well it was certainly good news for Kate’s sister, Pippa. Despite releasing a largely panned book giving party tips, Pippa managed to bag a job for NBC as a special correspondent. Royal insiders report that the Queen and other members of the family are a bit put out, as it’s clear Pippa only got this job due to her royal connections. It’s just so not classy.

Not only does Kate refuse to take the Queen’s advice with dress weights, she also refuses to take her advice about skirt lengths. The Queen would supposedly much prefer Kate to wear more sensible length skirts. A mid calf pencil skirt would be the perfect choice. But no, Kate would much rather wear a more daring mini skirt style. And why not, when you have legs like that?

Nobody really remembers that Will and Kate actually split up back in 2007 for a whole Summer. It’s said that Kate blamed Prince Charles, Will’s Dad, for the split. We wonder why Prince Charles had it in for Kate? What could she have done that would cause such a big rift and, ultimately lead them to break up? Let’s hope Kate and Charles have made up in recent years, or we can imagine how awkward it must be around the dinner table.

With her sister, Pippa, getting jobs on the back of Kate’s royal connections, what has her brother James managed to get out of it? Well James runs his own cake making business. Innocent enough, maybe, but James agreed to take part in a Hello magazine photo shoot with 21 cakes iced with images of the royal family. Needless to say the Queen was not best pleased with this blatant publicity-mongering.

While her brother and sister have managed to make some sort of career out of their royal connections, it seems that the Queen is not happy with Kate being merely a Princess and a mother. The Queen would rather Kate have a respectable job instead of just being a ‘socialite’. This is so she doesn’t show up Will, what with his very respectable job working for the Air Ambulance. That’s fair enough, but we don’t remember the Queen having a job (other than being Queen), do we?

Just because Kate is now royalty does not mean that she is safe from the Paparazzi, Something the Queen wishes that Kate would do well to remember. There’s been a couple of incidents where French gossip mags have released pictures of Kate topless sunbathing, much to the disgust of the whole royal family. It doesn’t seem right that most of the world have seen a Princesses particulars, does it?

Another one of Kate’s family members to potentially get on the wrong side of the Queen is her mom, Carole Middleton. As ‘the other Grandma’ it’s no surprise that the Queen may be a bit wary of Carole, particularly, as Kate’s mom, she’s much closer to Kate and the children. And it doesn’t help that Carole used to be an air hostess. How uncouth, darling.

Despite Kate doing what would traditionally be seen as her main ‘duty’ and providing Prince William with an heir, the Queen was still not happy. With both of her pregnancies, Kate has suffered with Hyperemesis Graviderum, the worst kind of morning sickness, and unsurprisingly didn’t feel up to going out and about. The Queen took great offence at this and rumors have it that the Queen felt like Kate should get out of bed and carry on doing her ‘duties’ by making public appearances. Harsh.

On what is supposed to be the best day of your life, it’s right that the bride gets all of the attention. Especially when your wedding is being broadcast to pretty much the entire world. So it was quite surprising that Kate’s sister, Pippa managed to steal quite  a bit of the limelight by wearing this figure hugging dress. When all people are talking about is your new daughter-in-law’s sister’s rear, it’s would be no shock to hear that the Queen wasn’t very happy about it.

When your part of the royal family, it’s not like you’ll be expected to live in a two bedroom flat on the outskirts of town. Will and Kate are lucky enough to inherit Amner Hall in Norfolk, England, however their extravagant expenditure on household refurbishments is not impressing the Queen. The couple recently spent £60, 000 moving a tennis court 36 feet. Slightly unnecessary we think.

It’s not just her hair and her skirts that the Queen dissaproves of, but also Kate’s foot wear choices. Kate is a big fan of the wedge, and we don’t blame her. If we had to walk around all day in heels, we’d chose wedges over a stiletto any day. The Queen, however, does not share our views and thinks that wedges are ‘not befitting of a member if the royal family.’
